I just built my site for painting on the wordpress platform. I really enjoy having the cosmetics of a theme with the ease of use of wordpress. I took advantage of the permalinks to make seo friendly urls. It really great to be able to login yourself for updates and not pay a programmer to do it for you.

I am having a hard time distinguishing between WordPress.org and WordPress.com My friends use WordPress and templates to create great websites but I’m stuck with what to do once I have uploaded WordPress (changed config etc.) to my FTP manager. Now what? I usually edit my html files through Dreamweaver and I’ve been trying to learn how to change the site with CSS but now I am totally lost.
How to I rename my site without the /wordpress behind my site?

Having just set up a site for voucherdeck.com, and I am torn between using wordpress, or creating our own blog.
As I see it, the main advantages of wordpress are simplicity/ease in setting up; and SEO i.e. getting a higher search engine ranking.
The main downside to word press seems to be that it will not be entirely customised and in line with th ebranding I want to create.
(as you will have worked out, I am still unsure which way to go)

I use Dreamweaver but after seeing how good WordPress sites are coming out and how Google seems to like the coding I think its time i made the change. Some fab wordpess free themes out there to, and its so easy to use, great stuff.
Just do it, you won’t be sorry. With the latest version, I don’t think anything else can touch it for an all round CMS.

The more I read about CMS, the more I think WordPress.
The documentation, videos and forums out there mean that you have to go with the matket leader.
And wordpress are starting to think Blogging and CMS, not just blogging.
If you learn one of the other CMS packages (and there are lots), you could be spending a lot of time learning something that will be obsolete! A bit like buying a betamax video.

hello my name is Vic and I found your blog. I have a website called Hollywoodpainting.com and I have a website installed onto it in a folder. I can access it by going to Hollywoodpainting.com/WP- admin where I can log on to my blog. But this is no good for everyone else how do they know I have a blog on this site how can I connect to a page to my blog that goes directly into the blog software so they don’t have to log on.
My intent is to have a viewer come to my website see the blog on the page somewhere and interact with it.
I don’t know whether you are capable of telling me how to do this or maybe you know a site that can teach me this.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am using both blogspot and wordpress .Well ,it depends how far you want to go,if you want to boost up your business to another higher level,i recommend to use wordpress because of the features is more advance than blogspot.In terms of template ,wordpress has more variety of choices even blog designer only focus on wordpress blog design.
My advise:Plan before you change.If currently,you are using blogspot and the results are phenomenal in terms of traffics and readers,please carry o.But if you plan to have another blog,perhaps consider wordpress as your choice
I’ve toyed with the idea of moving to WordPress, but Typepad is just so easy to use, and I know I’d go OTT on add-ons and plugins if I had a WordPress blog!

i started using wordpress a few month ago..and i find out it’s so awesome and wonderful 🙂
No doubt that WordPress is great. However i don’t find any issue with even blogger.com. Blogger.com is true blogging platform where as wordpress become more commercial. However there are many advantages with wordpress like it’s in php and mysql. So its easy to modify the template, where as blogger.com is written in their specific language which is little hard to learn. And there are so many free themes are available for wordpress, blogger.com doesn’t have many.

PS: One correction, WordPress IS open source, but Open Source is not the same as free. In Open Source, you can edit it, but it can be free or not. If a program is free, it can be Open Source or not.

WordPress isn’t all that SEO friendly our of the box. However there are some great mods, and with a little personal effort SEO on wordpress can people a much less painful process than on other CMS platforms.
